Joint Pain, Joint Man, Weather Man: Is it aches and pains or something more?
Thu, 02 Oct 2014
As we say goodbye to summer, which most of us missed, we look forward to fall and the coming season of leaves turning, cocoa, cider and the holidays. But for some people, the turning of the seasons is more than just a change in calendar pages.

For some people, the weather change brings joint pain, stiffness and overall limitation of everyday function. Many such individuals have learned to accept these symptoms as a matter of course, but when is such a condition old-fashioned wear and tear and when is it a serious matter?

If you are an individual who suffers from joint pain, you need only go to your local pharmacy to realize you're not alone as you stare at a whole isle of "arthritis" medications.

A trip to your local primary care office will certainly help sort out the cause of your symptoms and serve as first line treatment. Most people are unaware of new treatments and modalities that exist for different kinds of arthritis. Science has made unprecedented strides in the field and both degenerative (osteoarthritis) and inflammatory arthritides are in the spotlight.

So if you or a loved one are experiencing joint pain, swelling, sudden onset of limitation or other symptoms associated with joint pain, please consider seeking care either with your primary doctor or local rheumatologist. There maybe an answer to a question you did not know to ask.
